19 Dec 1982, Yamoussoukro (Côte d'Ivoire), on signature of Constitutive Agreement, as West African Economic Community School of Mining and Geology -- Ecole des mines et de la géologie de la Communauté économique de l'Afrique de l'Ouest. Came within the framework of H-XD3424 - Communauté économique de l'Afrique de l'Ouest (CEAO) and F-XF3713 - Union économique et monétaire Ouest africaine (UEMOA). New premises opened Jan 1990.
As an engineering school: serve the needs of engineers in the West African region for technical and engineering education in the geological, mining, mechanical, electrical, process and environmental engineering fields and informatics; provide continuing education for technicians and engineers already active in the private and public sectors.
