Founded 1988, Amsterdam (Netherlands), as International Surgical Club, formally known as International Gastro-Surgical Club (IGSC), following the Medical Faculty of Amsterdam University's acceptance of a proposal by Prof Lygidakis and Prof Vanderheiden to initiate an International Medical Foundation. Later known as International Association of Surgeons and Gastroenterologists (IASG).
