The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

Avoid unnecessary competition; allow diversification of action and complementarity of intervention; coordinate and adapt to the demands of economic integration projects in West Africa.

Cooperation among member institutions assumes various forms and covers several sectors as follows: (1) exchange of information and studies on the various aspects of the overall economic development of Member States as well as on specific sectors and projects; (2) exchange of experiences and human resources, especially through the organization of seminars, colloquia and training courses, invitation of one another to meetings, colloquia and seminars; (3) coordination of general, identification and project evaluation studies; (4) organization of joint missions in order to promote and draw up development projects; (5) participation in the joint financing of development projects involving one or more of their Member States or common organizations; (6) joint mobilization of funds for regional studies and projects approved by Member States. Chief Executives meet periodically and at least once a year. Experts meet twice a year to assess the progress made in the implementation of the approved programmes.
