1997, to facilitate membership of Australian and Oceanic researchers in International Rural Sociology Association (IRSA). Managed by 'Centre for Rural Social Research (CRSR)' at Charles Sturt University, Wagga Wagga (Australia).

In the absence of a rural sociological association in the Australia and Oceania region, involve researchers in IRSA.
