The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History

Founded 1977, Brussels (Belgium), as European Article Numbering Association (EAN) -- Association européenne de numérotation des articles, on the initiative of manufacturers and retailers from 12 European countries. From 1978, open to organizations from other continents. Subsequently changed title to: International Article Numbering Association -- Association internationale de numérotation des articles but, from 1992, referred to as EAN International. Present name adopted 2005. Registered in accordance with Belgian law, 30 July 1979. EU Transparence Register: 073756422825-22.

Aims

Establish a global multi-industry system to identify, capture and share information of products, services and locations based on internationally accepted and business-led GS1 standards; facilitate collaboration among trading partners, organizations and technology providers in order to solve business challenges that leverage standards and to ensure visibility along the entire supply chain.
