Aims

Promote greater awareness of the benefits provided by the inbound travel industry in Europe; represent the view of members to EC institutions; work with EC institutions to develop closer cooperation with the international inbound industry; gather, analyse and interpret relevant Community legislation on behalf of the membership; act as a self-regulating body for the inbound industry and establish codes of conduct for members; act as a forum of mutual cooperation and discussion between tour operators and their suppliers; maintain the highest quality of service by members; develop and maintain good relations with other trade associations in the tourism industry.

Activities

Lobbies the European Commission and Parliament on forthcoming tourism legislation, and national governments on tourism issues; produces guidelines on client safety for tour managers, on the environment and on road safety; provides members with marketing and networking opportunities; major project to promote Europe as a tourism destination in long-haul overseas markets; setting up an exclusive liability insurance scheme for its members; organizes training schemes for tour managers; runs a number of sub-committees looking at such aspects of the tourism industry as: transportation; the environment; indirect taxation; membership; conferences; social affairs; tourism promotion.
