29 Jul 1946, as International Water Ski Union -- Union internationale de ski nautique (UISN). Statutes adopted 3-4 Nov 1947, Brussels (Belgium), at first Congress. Restructured, 12 Aug 1955, Beirut (Lebanon), as World Water Ski Union (WWSU) -- Union mondiale de ski nautique (UMSN), on merger with H-XH0097 - World Water Ski Federation (WWSF). Title changed to International Water Ski Federation (IWSF), 1 Jan 1989, following decision of World Congress, 1987, London (UK). Current title adopted 6 Aug 2009, Calgary AB (Canada).
Promote and support development of water skiing and wakeboard worldwide.
