Give specialists in different countries engaged within marine engineering an opportunity to discuss questions of common interest and to exchange information on results obtained and work in progress or contemplated in their respective countries; promote cooperation between specialists in different countries within research and development in order to achieve a more efficient use of resources in the field; recommend further research and development, especially where cooperation between specialists in different countries is of a special interest or when a standard procedure is to be recommended; provide a source of reference of information services available on marine engineering system.
