following a proposal Dec 1999, Lomé (Togo), during the Head of State Summit of U-XF9155 - ECOWAS Fund for Cooperation, Compensation and Development (ECOWAS Fund), to take over its activities. Comes within F-XD3462 - Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). Fully operational in 2003, with 2 subsidiary bodies: U-XK2364 - ECOWAS Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and U-XJ1918 - ECOWAS Regional Investment Bank (ERIB). Reorganized into a single structure, 14 Jun 2006.
Contribute towards the economic development of West Africa through the financing of ECOWAS and NEPAD projects and programmes, notably programmes relating to transport, energy, telecommunications, industry, poverty alleviation, environment and natural resources.
