History

26 Feb 1993, Porto Novo (Benin), by U-XE7933 - Fondation panafricaine pour le développement économique, social et culturel (FOPADESC) and H-XA3490 - World Confederation of Labour (WCL). Following merger of H-XA1667 - International Confederation of Free Trade Unions (ICFTU) and WCL, Nov 2006, into A-XM2085 - International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), ceased to exist.

Aims

Contribute to the establishment, consolidation and development a trade union movement in Africa at the professional and inter-professional level; ensure the respect of trade union freedom and the guarantee of such right for all African workers; see to the emancipation and the promotion of African women; defend the material, cultural and moral interests of the African working class; assert the independence and the identity of the African trade union movement; represent and defend the interests of trade unions and workers in all national, regional and international organizations and institutions; assist trade union organizations with the view to strengthening solidarity among workers; defend the material and moral interests of the African migrant workers, in collaboration with the trade union organizations of the host countries; fight against all forms of discrimination.
