History
Feb 1999, within D-XD0165 - ASEAN, with the signing of 'ASEAN Agreement for the Establishment of the ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity' by the 10 ASEAN Member Countries. Officially launched 27 Sep 2005 during the 9th Informal ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on the Environment, held in Makati City (Philippines). Original title: ASEAN Regional Centre for Biodiversity Conservation (ARCBC).
Aims
Intensify biodiversity conservation through improved cooperation in a comprehensive regional context by assisting in setting up a network of institutional links among ASEAN countries and between ASEAN and EU partner organizations.
