Founded 11 Jun 1957, Lausanne (Switzerland), at constituting General Assembly, when Statutes were accepted and went into effect, an Interim Committee having been set up in Jun 1956, Paris (France). Statutes amended and approved by General Assembly, 27 Sep 1993, Antwerp (Belgium); currently under revision.
Provide the structure for communication, information and action relating to all matters typographic for the international type community; preserve the culture, tradition and history of type and typography; promote contemporary digital fonts; encourage outstanding typography and typographic design.
