The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).


1962, Rome (Italy), as a documentation centre for Dutch bishops in Rome. Formerly International Documentation on the Contemporary Church, subsequently 'Information and Documentation Centre', IDOC is now an international, transconfessional, independent documentation and communication centre. Ceased to exist, 2000, with official termination in 2009.


Disseminate information and foster research on the processes of social and human change, especially as these relate to the activities of Churches and the experience of Christian groups and individuals.

Collection, classification and indexing of documents related to IDOC areas of interest. Information services such as the preparation of bibliographies, studies and trend reports. Maintains a Third World documentation centre open to the public; coordinates an electronic global network of development-oriented documentation centres, INTERDOC, of which it is a founding member. Regular documentation training courses; conferences; consultation service. Instrumental in setting up the no longer functional Network of European Church and Society-oriented Organizations. Organizes conferences.
