History

Founded, on the initiative of Richard Wood and Kareem Abu-Elmagd, during the 8th S-XS0311 - International Small Bowel Transplant Symposium. Upon creation, accepted as a section of B-XC3331 - The Transplantation Society (TTS). Upon creation, took over organizing responsibilities for the Symposium which is currently known as the Congress of the Intestinal Rehabilitation and Transplant Association (CIRTA).

Aims

Save and enhance the lives of patients with intestinal failure using innovative nutritional, medical, surgical and transplant therapies through education, policy development and research.
