The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History

by United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), a previous project to set up an African Centre for Research and Development on Medicinal Plants having been proposed, 1984, but abandoned, despite the support of Inter-African Committee on African Medicinal Plants and Traditional Medicine and Scientific Council for Africa South of the Sahara (CSA). No longer active.

Aims

In terms of socio-economic development of Africa: increase supply of pharmaceutical products at affordable prices to African populations to enable them take maximum advantage of primary health care; encourage research and development on medicinal plants; promote traditional medicine with a view to reducing dependence on imported pharmaceutical products; promote local industries.
