Aims

Promote, defend and safeguard the rights, privileges, interests and welfare of all staff members of ECA, especially with regard to their terms and conditions of employment; ensure that staff-management relations are in conformity with the principles laid down in the UN Charter, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, international labour norms and the UN Staff Rules and Regulations; contribute to promotion and achievement of the objectives of the UN Charter and development goals of the Organization and its member states; maintain working relations and cooperation with other staff unions or associations of the United Nations System with a view to promoting collective interest; promote a healthy and conducive work environment so as to enhance staff performance; promote good work practices and ethics among Union members to contribute to the achievement of the objectives of ECA.

Activities

Conducts surveys on topics including: job satisfaction; support services; comprehensive and interim local staff salary surveys; place-to-place survey for post-adjustment. compiles data and information for re-submission on classification of duty station questionnaire; promotes knowledge on the UN rules and regulations; operates sports and recreation facilities such as gym, cafeteria and aerobic classes; monitors and ensures proper implementation of job classification results; participates in the selection process on recruitment and promotion; organizes monthly meeting with management and open fora on major thematic issues.
