History

26 May 1973, Paris (France), at founding conference. Statutes formally adopted, Mar 1974, Paris. Developed from Continuing Committee of the World Futures Studies Research Conferences (CC-WFSRC), previously called International Future Research Committee, which originated, Sep 1967, Oslo (Norway), at 1st World Futures Research Conference, organized by the then Mankind 2000, together with Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO). Registered in accordance with French law.

Aims

Bring together academics, researchers, practitioners, students and futures-focused institutions and offer a forum for stimulation, exploration and exchange of ideas, visions and plans for alternative futures, through long-term, big-picture thinking and radical change; encourage and promote development of futures studies as a transdisciplinary academic and professional field in all parts of the world both face-to-face and virtually.
