Increase visibility and impact of the European plant science community; articulate its vision for the future and advise on decisions of funding agencies at European and national level on long term strategies to support plant science; ensure independent dissemination of plant science information; improve public perception of plant science and prepare for a permanent and effective engagement with public opinion at several levels; encourage plant scientists to respect and understand a broad spectrum of views on the role of modern plant science in food production and the environment; promote the inclusion research relevant to interests and needs of European and developing nations into basic, applied and strategic research in Europe; contribute to development of agriculture, horticulture, forestry and biodiversity.
