The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

Defend integrity and basic principles of the legal profession; safeguard the independence and freedom of the defence; work towards establishment and strengthening of relations among African lawyers; foster a spirit of solidarity among them; defend and promote public and private freedoms, human rights and the rights of peoples; work for establishment of an international legal order based on justice among nations; set up an efficient legal defence system; support and encourage preservation of the rule of law and independence of the judiciary; participate in efforts to improve legal education in universities.
