Founded on merger of the former H-XH0031 - International Desalination and Environmental Association (IDEA), set up 1971, with Water Supply Improvement Association (WSIA).
Promote use of desalination to increase availability of potable water; serve the interests of and promote communication among desalting plant owners and operators, suppliers and consumers; monitor progress in the field; work for the development of regional and international specifications and standards; assist in monitoring of thermal and chemical pollution and environmentally/ ecologically compatible control of discharges.
