History

5 Jun 1997, as Cultural Foundation of the Euregion for Textiles -- Fondation culturelle de l'Eurégion du textile -- Kulturstiftung der Euregio für Textil, under the auspices of D-XE3500 - Assembly of European Regions (AER). Registered in accordance with Belgian law. As of 2006 "ceased to exist".

Aims

As a community of members interested in maintaining and developing textile culture in industry, arts and crafts: strengthen Europe as a location for textile production; encourage European scientific, artistic and pedagogical cooperation in the framework of textile culture; strengthen regional identities by reappraisal of their textile heritage; encourage cultural aspects of contemporary textile production and local resources; develop interregional exchange of information and experience relating to textile culture; cooperate with textile regions, Europe-based textile and clothing industry and cultural institutions in projects aimed at optimal mobilization of cultural resources for the local textile sector and support for structural adjustment in areas with a declining employment in textile production; strengthen the cultural identity in historical and present-day textile regions in Europe by opening up local cultural heritage to a wider public and by developing cultural tourism through interregional Textile Routes.
