28-29 Oct 1987, Cairo (Egypt), as an independent, autonomous and self-governing institution under the umbrella of E-XE5993 - OIC Ministerial Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH) of C-XC4129 - Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Originally planned as Islamic Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology.
Aims
Cooperate in research areas of common interest with a view to mutual assistance in building capability in the field; exchange information and maintain continuing dialogue on developments in the field for mutual benefit and use; initiate joint projects of research and development of common interest to member countries; assist in training of quality manpower in the field for Muslim countries.
