History
May 1977, Cairo (Egypt), under the auspices of D-XD0433 - Council of Arab Economic Unity (CAEU) and H-XD4088 - Arab Industrial Development Organization (AIDO), following recommendations of a meeting 30 Apr 1977, Khartoum (Sudan). Also referred in French to as Union arabe des sucreries. No recent activity reported since 1991.
Aims
Promote sugarcane and sugarbeet agriculture, and sugar industry and its by-products in the Arab countries; help develop potential areas to satisfy as far as possible the demand for sugar in the Arab region.
