History
Jan 1990, with the title Plastics Waste Management Institute. Subsequently referred to as European Centre for Plastics in the Environment (PWMI). Comes within the framework of D-XD0052 - Association of Plastics Manufacturers in Europe (Plastics Europe). Assumed ceased to exist with restructuring of APMA in 2004.
Aims
Promote the benefits of plastics and their contribution to sustainable development; apply an integrated approach to the resource and waste management of plastics; develop wider understanding of the overall life-cycle of plastics and demonstrate the complete cost and benefit relationship; promote increased material recycling and energy recovery from plastics waste; develop technology for sorting and recycling of plastics; encourage utilization of recycled plastics in product development and in new markets; provide information to all market sectors so they can conduct reliable eco-balance studies; coordinate with legislative and communications programmes.
