1972, Alexandria, as Arab Maritime Transport Academy, Alexandria (AMTA). In accordance with a resolution of H-XE0690 - Council of Arab Ministers of Transport, 7 Nov 1989, amalgamated with U-XF1673 - Arab Maritime Transport Academy, Sharjah (AMTA), to form one Academy. Current title adopted 1995. Also referred to as: Arab Academy for Science and Technology; Arab Science and Technology Academy (ASTA). A specialized agency of D-XD2903 - League of Arab States (LAS).
Provide quality educational services in maritime specialization in compliance with the international standards of education, scientific research, innovation and training; promote cooperation with research teams at national and international levels; contribute to the social and economic development of the Arab region.
