The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

Originally known in English and French as International Association of Independent Enterprises, Trades and Crafts -- Union internationale de l'artisanat et des petites et moyennes entreprises industrielles et commerciales. Statutes revised: 1955, 1968; 2 May 1984. Current statutes adopted 1995, Vienna (Austria). Registered in accordance with Swiss law.


Promote private enterprise, individual initiative and the independence of enterprises run by their owners; defend the interests of independent business and the freedom of enterprise within the private economy; develop training and professional improvement; encourage in each country the creation of independent professional associations and interprofessional organizations; collect, formulate and express the opinions of member organizations concerning all questions of the international economy; represent the common interests of crafts and small and medium-sized independent enterprises in dealings with international bodies, both public and private; institute exchange of ideas, experience, information and documentation among affiliated associations and enlighten public opinion with respect to all problems common to independent enterprises.
