Ensure follow up of implementation of measures taken within the framework of assistance programmes to the peoples of the Sahel in the form of emergency food aid and priority development projects; explore all means likely to control drought and desertification; take the initiative in this regard and apprise the Conference of Foreign Ministers.Available with paid subscription only.
Programme of assistance in the problem of persistent drought covers 10 Sahel countries - Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Chad, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Mauritania, Niger and Senegal (Cape Verde is not an OIC member and does not have a significant Muslim population but is included in the programme as it constitutes an integral part of the African Sahel).
