The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History

5 Dec 1974, following the work of Nordic Pharmacopoeia Council, set up 1948, by the Nordic governments, and recommendation No 16/1969 of Nordic Council (NC). In 1980 became a permanent Nordic Institution, being on the general budget of Nordic Council of Ministers (NCM). Closed down 31 Dec 2001.

Aims

Promote Nordic cooperation in the field of medicines; seek to safeguard Nordic interests at the European level.

Activities

Acts as advisory body to health authorities in the Nordic countries; promotes cooperation among Nordic countries and acts as a link between different interest groups in the pharmaceuticals sector; collaborates with the rest of Europe, the European Union, the European Economic Area and with the Baltic countries. Projects are not limited to the Nordic region. Concerns: efficacy, quality and safety of drugs for humans; correct use of medicines. Organizes conferences, seminars and workshops.
