History

Set up as a H-XD0665 - European Community Agency, by E-XE7976 - European Council Regulation (EC) 1321/2004. Status amended, 2006, by Council Regulation (EC) No 1942/2006. Successor to GALILEO Joint Undertaking (GJU), set up May 2002; took over GJU tasks, 1 Jan 2007. Restructured into a decentralized agency of the F-XF2147 - European Union (EU) following Regulation (EU) No 912/2010 and Regulation (EU) No 512/2014.

Aims

Manage all public interests related to, promote use of, and ensure security of European Space Programmes (EGNOS and Galileo); achieve a fully operational Galileo system and make it the world's leading satellite navigation system for civilian applications.
