History
Set up as a H-XD0665 - European Community Agency, by E-XE7976 - European Council Regulation (EC) 1321/2004.
Status amended, 2006, by Council Regulation (EC) No 1942/2006.
Successor to GALILEO Joint Undertaking (GJU), set up May 2002; took over GJU tasks, 1 Jan 2007.
Restructured into a decentralized agency of the F-XF2147 - European Union (EU) following Regulation (EU) No 912/2010 and Regulation (EU) No 512/2014.
Aims
Provide safe and secure European satellite navigation services; advance the commercialization of Galileo, EGNOS, and Copernicus data and services; engage in secure satellite communications (GOVSATCOM & IRIS2); operate the EUSST Front Desk. Also responsible for accrediting the security of all EU Space Programme components.
