History

Oct 1985, Norwich (UK), following requests of professional educators at international conferences and with support of H-XD6690 - Organisation of Commonwealth Associations (OCA). Inaugurated and constitution adopted, 25 Mar 1987, Ukai Dam (India). Previously referred to as Commonwealth Association for the Education of Adults (CAEA). Ceased to exist.

Aims

Seek to enhance enhance the competence and professional understanding of its members; improve the status of of adult education in all its aspects; link together practitioners in different parts of the Commonwealth; direct the resources of all forms of education for adults towards national goals of development.

Assembly of individual members (every 4-5 years). Council, consisting of President, Vice-President, Chairperson, Vice-Chair, Newsletter Editor, Treasurer, Secretary-General and Councillors representing the various regional constituencies of the Commonwealth. Zimbabwe-based Management Executive Committee, headed by Secretary-General.
