22 Apr 1959, following approval of the Statutes by the Council of D-XD3030 - OAS, upon the recommendation of U-XU2150 - Inter-American Committee of Presidential Representatives. Commission suspended 1989, by OAS General Assembly, although formal structure maintained as a symbol of the interest attributed to it by member states by virtue of its role in promoting and facilitating inter-American cooperation for development of peaceful uses of nuclear energy. The holding of conferences and meetings in the field and training activities continue as specific projects in technical areas of the OAS but finance for other activities in the field are suspended until such time as OAS financial crisis is resolved. Dissolved by Resolution adopted at the sixth plenary session, 4th Jun 1997.
