5-6 Jun 1952, Brussels (Belgium), as European Federation of Associations of Engineers and Heads of Industrial Safety Services -- Fédération européenne des associations d'ingénieurs de sécurité et de chefs de service de sécurité (FEAICS). In 1972, became European Federation of Associations of Industrial Safety and Medical Officers -- Fédération européenne des associations d'ingénieurs et de chefs de service de la sécurité et des médecins du travail (FAS) -- Föderation der Europäischen Vereinigungen der Sicherheitsingenieure, Sicherheitsdienste und Betriebsärzte. Present title adopted 1977.

Aims

Develop international contacts and cooperation among specialists in occupational health, industrial safety and risk management; promote consideration of prevention of accidents at work and occupational illnesses; develop research and education in these areas; contribute to popularization of the profession of safety engineer, occupational doctor, industrial hygienist and others employed in similar capacities; encourage exchange of know-how among members, with the aim of constantly increasing their specialized knowledge.
