Bearing in mind the new world trade environment, contribute to development and promotion of intra-ACP and ACP-EU trade; motivate and improve ACP and ACP-EU trade flows through more professional management, enhanced decentralized cooperation and regional integration; identify and analyse opportunities offered by the globalization process and liberalization of international trade; raise capacity building of ACP national chambers to the level required for dialogue amongst themselves and with EU chambers; upgrade level of, and foster contacts and flow of information among members; contribute to integration of the informal sector of ACP economies into the formal sector; assist in harmonizing commercial policies of ACP countries; serve as an instrument for promotion of economic activity, market research, human resource development, development of the private sector, of SMEs and of export-oriented investment in ACP countries and regions.

Organizes meetings, in particular on business and investment promotion; assists members in establishing economic development programmes and in strengthening existing programmes; advises and makes recommendations to members on formulation of economic policy conducive to trade exchange and to increase intra-ACP trade and trade with other countries, investment and other cross-border initiatives. Current concerns: project of the ACP Council of Ministers to establish a 'Network of ACP National Chambers of Commerce'; extending the BC-Net idea to ACP countries; collaborative training programmes; training to assist women in setting up their own businesses; joint meetings of ACP and EU chambers.
