Network of Associations of Local Authorities of South-East Europe (NALAS)

Founded following the 1st Forum of Cities and Regions of South-East Europe, Skopje (Macedonia), Nov 2000, organized by F-XE1645 - Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe. Established under the auspices of U-XF6140 - Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe and D-XD0435 - Council of Europe (CE). During the first years, functioned as an informal organization with regular meetings, seminars and training programmes. Secretariat set up, Mar 2007.
Promote the process of decentralization in cooperation with central governments and international organizations, considering local self-government as a key issue in the current process of transition affecting the various countries in South-East Europe.
