Busan, a global city known for its excellent MICE infrastructure and abundant tourism resources, continues to double down on its efforts to win the right to host the World Expo 2030, scheduled to be held from May 1 to October 31, 2030. Leading Korean companies and citizens have joined Busan’s efforts to win the bid and demonstrate the city’s capabilities as an expo host.

Busan is a global MICE city whose reputation is growing stronger by the day. With the end of the COVID pandemic in sight, the global MICE industry is resuming business as usual. In the first half of this year alone, the Busan Exhibition and Convention Center (BEXCO) held over 100 more events than it did all of last year.

Dieter Korczak has been coordinating an EU co-financed project in 13 EU Member States since July this year. This project is about setting up debt counselling centres in the countries Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, Croatia, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Hungary and Cyprus.

Previously, businesses were mainly assessed based on their financial achievements but recently their ESG values are also being scrutinized more than ever by both stakeholders and consumers. This applies to the MICE industry as well.

Korea has recently successfully launched the satellite launch rocket Nuri and the lunar probe Danuri in succession. Based on these achievements, the country is securing a stronger global standing academically and technologically in terms of space science. Korea is also being recognized for its ability to attract relevant MICE events.
