History

Founded by merger of London Investment Banking Association (LIBA) and the European arm of the Securities Industries and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA). Also integrated with the merger: European Covered Bond Dealers Association (ECBDA); European High yield Association (EHYA); European Primary Dealers Association (EPDA); European Primary Markets Division (EPMD); European Securitisation Forum (ESF); European Securities Services Forum (ESSF).

Aims

Offer a single voice for Europe's capital market participants and advocate their views at national, EU and global levels; represent leading global and European banks and other significant capital market players, focusing on a wide range of market, business and prudential issues; offer a pan-European perspective, bringing to bear policy and technical expertise and constructive influence with European and global policymakers to help achieve a balanced and stable regulatory environment; advocate stable, competitive, sustainable European financial markets that support economic growth and benefit society; build constructive dialogue with regulators and policymakers; promote contribution of the financial sector to society.
