Advance the science and practice of laboratory medicine in matters of common interest to clinical laboratory disciplines; promote application of laboratory medicine to provision of health services and the practice of medicine within the framework of the Health for All movement of WHO within Europe as defined geographically by WHO; establish, encourage and foster high professional standards of laboratory medicine; promote European cooperation and coordination in the field in research, methods, materials, regulations, education and training, codes of ethics and related subjects; provide a basis for closer liaison and free exchange of professional information among those working in the field; contribute wherever practicable and feasible to the improvement of laboratory medicine and its services to humanity.
