The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History

within the framework of: European Commission (EC). Original Programme for 1989-1993. Second Programme, VALUE II, for 1992-1994, is running concurrently with VALUE until the latter expires and is also referred to as VALUE - Successor Programme. Organized through Directorate-General XIII. Terminated 31 Dec 1994, when combined with: Strategic Programme for Innovation and Technology Transfer (SPRINT) to form: INNOVATION Programme.

Aims

Promote dissemination and utilization of results of scientific and technical research so as to help reinforce the competitiveness of European industry; give special consideration to needs of SMEs as regards technical information and support; promote a common infrastructure for computer communications.

Activities

Support for studies, consultancy services, tests, experimental developments; participation in fairs, exhibitions, seminars; contributions to conferences, studies, academic events. 'VALUE Relay Centres' (32 throughout the Community) encourage companies, in particular SMEs, to take part in Community research and development programmes and ensure dissemination of scientific knowledge and results to organizations likely to use them.
