The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).


26 Oct 1956, Paris (France), to continue the work of International University Statistical Bureau, set up in 1937, and attached to International Institute of Intellectual Cooperation (IICI), established 9 Aug 1925 (both the Bureau and the Institute ceased to function during World War II). Registered in accordance with French law. No recent activity reported since 1985.


Establish permanent cooperation among national organizations concerned with supplying educational and vocational information for the guidance of college and university students; encourage setting up of new organizations of a similar character; compare methods and collect international documentation.

By means of regular contacts between specialists, compares methods employed to provide young people with necessary information to choose a course of study or an occupation; examines problems facing the bodies responsible for educational and vocational information and publishes the results of such researches. Uses data supplied by UNESCO, ILO and national bodies; suggests ways of improving and extending such data, and new lines of enquiry; combines documentation provided by bodies concerned with educational information in an International Fund of Documentation which is available to members and the public. Provides educational and professional orientation services, with particular attention to developing countries; organizes seminars.
