1978, as Pan American Network for Information and Documentation in Sanitary Engineering and Environmental Sciences -- Red Panamericana de Información y Documentación en Ingenieria Sanitaria y Ciencias del Ambiente, by U-XE2752 - Centro Panamericano de Ingenieria Sanitaria y Ciencias del Ambiente (CEPIS) and E-XE3060 - Pan American Health Organization (PAHO). Activities commenced 1982.

Aims

Provide access to specialized knowledge through the collection and dissemination of bibliographic materials, with emphasis on 'non-conventional' documents of limited distribution or availability (such as technical reports, theses, working papers).

Structure

REPIDISCA is a decentralized system operating in Latin America and the Caribbean. National institutions, acting as Cooperating Centres (CCs), together with the National Coordinating Centres (NCCs) are responsible for the development of REPIDISCA in their own countries. CEPIS is the network Regional Coordinator and consolidates the information sent by the Cooperating Centres in several databases.
