Initially founded as a research group within the School of Law of the University of Trento (Italy). 1 Jan 2000, became an interdepartmental research centre. Current title adopted, when became a joint centre of Catholic University of Milan and University of Trento, 1 Jan 2004. Presently a joint centre of: Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, the Alma Mater Studiorum Università di Bologna and the Università degli Studi di Perugia.
