The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).


1987, within the framework of African Council for Communication Education (ACCE), following recommendations, June 1987, Singapore (Singapore), of Directors' meeting of International Network of Documentation Centres on Communication Research and Policies (COMNET). Also referred to as ACCE AFRICA COMNET.


Encourage the collection and exchange of information on communication development, research and practice in Africa and on mass communication policies; promote the use of common standards and norms for cataloguing, indexing and abstracting.

Establishes regional, sub-regional and national documentation centres; prepares and circulates bibliographies on communication studies in Africa; encourages the use of common standards and norms for cataloguing, indexing and abstracting; assists in training programmes and provision of computer hardware and software, books and other reading materials. Documentation projects: bibliography of studies and publications on journalism and communication in Africa; compilation of a directory of communication scholars and researchers in Africa; updating the ACCE Directory of Communication Training Institutions in Africa first published 1988. Annual meetings.
