History

18 Apr 1985, San José (Costa Rica), at 9th meeting of Presidents and Managers of the Electrical Enterprises of the Central American Isthmus, having been proposed at 6th meeting, 29-30 Mar 1979, Panama. Also referred to in English as Electrification Council of Central America. Comes within the framework of Central American Integration System (SICA).

Aims

Obtain the best exploitation (usage) of the resources of energy of the Member States by means of an efficient, rational and appropriate generation, transmission and distribution of electrical energy among Central American countries.

Activities

Bilateral and multilateral agreements for the electrical interconnection among Central American countries and other countries. Carries out studies and research in the field; provides scientific, technical, administrative and material assistance to integrated institutions; gives advice and information; offers personal organization and training.
