21 Mar 1983, as European Liaison Committee (ELC). Present Charter adopted 22 Mar 1995. Previously referred to as European Industrial Food Additives and Food Enzymes Liaison Committee. Changed name to Federation of European Food Additives and Food Enzymes Industries (ELC) in 1993. Subsequently changed title to Federation of European Food Additives, Food Enzymes and Food Cultures Industries (ELC), 2005, and to Federation of European Specialty Food Ingredient Industries (ELC), 2010. Current title adopted 2017. Present by-laws adopted Apr 2005. EU Transparency Register: 6160532422-38.
Represent mutual interests of the European food additives industry, principally in scientific, technological and regulatory matters; make representations to the European Commission and other relevant authorities on all aspects of current and proposed legislation affecting food additives; encourage maintenance of the highest standards in manufacturing practice and product specification.
