History
16-17 Apr 1971, Geneva (Switzerland), as Comité permanent des communautés ethniques de langue française, when the first Conférence des minorités ethniques de langue française was organized, subsequently referred to as S-XS0429 - Conférence des communautés ethniques de langue française. Later became Comité permanent des peuples de langue française. Current statutes adopted 6 Jun 1992, Brussels (Belgium). Present name adopted 1993.
Aims
Affirm the values of democracy and freedom as fundamental components of French-speaking people's identity; defend these principles wherever necessary; promote the idea that individual rights must correspond to the rights of people; participate in the development and continuity of French as a modern and universal language of communication and civilization; provide the means for mutual political help among movements wishing to render French-speaking people more autonomous with respect to external decision-making; contribute to the full integration of French-speaking people in a world searching for new balance and express the will to build joint destinies around common values; increase exchanges among French-speaking people; coordinate internationally information related to their movements and to their research and documentation centres.
