Since Jan 1993, within the framework of F-XF2856 - European Federation of European Coordination Networks of Scientific and Technical Cooperation. Also known as European Committee of Heads of Official Mapping Agencies. Daughter organization, U-XF3173 - Multipurpose European Ground Related Information Network (MEGRIN), set up 1993 to manage pan-European projects. Ceased to exist, Sep 2000, Malmö (Sweden), when merged with MEGRIN to form F-XF6505 - EuroGeographics.
Promote mutual information, consultation and cooperation in the field of geographic information; simplify the exchange of information on matters of mutual concern to national mapping agencies and thereby strengthen cooperation between them; identify subjects on which common policies are appropriate and assist in their formulation and acceptance.
