The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History

1 Feb 1991, Ibadan (Nigeria), during an inaugural meeting at International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA). As of 2004 ceased to exist.

Aims

'Overall goal': Improve soil and plant analytical laboratories in Africa in order to strengthen support to national agricultural research systems. 'Specific objectives': (a) Identification of priority problems and available resources; (b) upgrading the skills of laboratory technologists through training; (c) improve communication among laboratories; (d) increase collaboration in order to more efficiently use the resources.

Organizes training courses at various laboratories in Africa in order to improve the skills of laboratory technologists in the following areas: equipment maintenance, soil and plant analysis methodology, laboratory information management and good laboratory practices.
