History

14 Apr 1948, Santiago (Chile), as Inter-American Association of Sanitary Engineering -- Asociación Interamericana de Ingenieria Sanitaria. Previously also referred to as Inter-American Association of Sanitary Engineering and Environmental Sciences (IAASEES). Constitution amended June 1976, Buenos Aires (Argentina); current constitution approved Oct 1992, Buenos Aires. Legally registered in Caracas (Venezuela) and in Sao Paulo (Brazil). Since 1999, a regional group of: International Water Association (IWA).

Aims

Promote development of sanitary engineering and environmental sciences in the Americas; promote scientific and technological contributions toward public health and environmental sanitation.

National Sections develop national and regional programmes. Information and service to members, promotion of scientific interchanges, collaboration with national and international institutions in every matter related to sanitary engineering.
