History

1973, USA, as Catholics for a Free Choice (CFFC) -- Católicas por el Derecho a Decidir (CDD) -- Católicas pelo Direito de Decidir (CDD). Sister organizations founded in Argentina in 1987. Current title adopted, 2007.

Aims

Shape and advance sexual and reproductive ethics that are based on justice, reflect a commitment to women's wellbeing, and respect and affirm the capacity of women and men to make moral decisions about their lives.

Activities

Programs include activities in USA, Latin America and Europe, and outreach to other countries and organizations around the world. Priority issues: Reproductive Health and Rights; Sex and Sexuality; Catholicism; Catholic Health Care; HIV and AIDS; Public Policy; Bioethics; New Reproductive Health Technologies. Key activities include: publishing and research; communications, especially the media; public speaking, special events and educational events; policy analysis; collaboration with partner organizations worldwide; communication and values-clarification training. Participation in various fora and conferences.
