1920, Cologne (Germany), preliminary board having been established in 1913. Original name: International Federation of Christian Factory and Transport Workers' Syndicates -- Fédération internationale des syndicats chrétiens d'ouvriers d'usine et de transports -- Internationaler Bund Christlicher Fabrik- und Transportarbeiterverbände. Name changed from International Federation of Christian Factory Workers' Unions -- Fédération internationale des syndicats chrétiens des industries diverses, 23 Nov 1971, Luxembourg. Commenced under present title, European in scope, 15 Oct 1986, Luxembourg, when statutes were modified to this effect. Also referred to as European Federation of Trade Unions for Energy, Chemical and Miscellaneous Industries -- Fédération européenne des syndicats de l'énergie, de la chimie et des industries diverses (ECI) -- Federación Europea de los Sindicatos de la Energia, de la Quimica y de las Industrias Diversas. Ceased to exist 14 Oct 1985, Baden (Austria), when merged with 4 other federations to form H-XD6100 - World Federation of Industry Workers (WFIW).

Aims

Further activities of European labour unions on a Christian basis; encourage multinational action and promote principles of WCL.
